Reflection of the week (june 5th)

We are almost finishing the semester right now, but this week we also were busy with the subject of technologies.
During the week the teacher started to evaluate and to check our blogs fortunately I have all my works done so I have no problems with that, I just need to finish my final project and I'll be done :D.
We also did a collage and presented it in the first open house at UALE, I enjoyed the event since we also have the company of group 601 it was nice.

Reflection of the week!

This week the teacher assigned us some task to do before finishing the semester.
Some of them are kind of new for me since I have to use camtasia to do one of them, I hope I can do a good job. 
The only assignment that I finished is the glosary of 20 definitions about technological stuff! but I need to do a lot more including the final project!

Reflection of the week (exam week)

Well... this week I didn't do anything for homework because we did an exam, but even 
though we didn't have homework it was a tiring week since we had to read more than 40 pages, but anyway after reading a lot I finally did it. We haven't got our scores yet but I hope it is a good one.
The reading of the pages were mainly about inspiring creativity in class and also how to use different tools to promote creativity. I think much of the information was important for the future and I took some of the points into account.

My reflection of the week

This week, I didn't do a lot, I just created a video in Powtoon. I found it really enjoyable because I felt like I was doing something new and that was a really good tool because I could use it without having a lot of difficulties so I could do my video in spite of my lack of technological management abilities XD

My reflection of this week

This week I learned how to create a padlet and paste it in a blog like this one,
I think that's an interesting and useful resource to use since it makes easier to share big documents in a blog
you just have to select your work in your computer and upload it to one padlet so that everybody is able to read your work.

My reflection of this week (vocaroo and emaze)

Well... this week I did some tasks by using Vocaroo and emaze!

First, I used emaze in order to create a presentation online, which was a new experience for me since I had never donde an online presentation before, not even in prezi! I enjoyed doing the presentation because I based it in my experience in Arkansas State University and made me remember a lot of good memories.
I have to admit that at the beginning I didn't know what to do in the page of emaze but then I started to click everywhere until I could do my presentation succesfully.

The other tool I used this week was  Vocaroo which I found it very practical because it is easy to record your voice and I think students can be more interested in the task if we present pre-recorded instructions and not just letters and more letters.

Reflection of the week

This week I created a video quizz in the page eslvideo.com , I made the quizz about the sitcom friends because I really love that serie and I also think that the speaking of the actors is clear and understandable, so that intermediate level students can listen to the video and find the answers without struggling too much, in other words I think the audio is in the right level for them.

I did it in the page http://zunal.com/  it is for free go it was great and it is easy to use.

I tried to make my webquest a little bit interactive maybe the topic that I choose is not so educational, but in terms of motivation it can really help to make students be more positive about their studies and their activities in life. And motivation was not the only point, I also designed my webquest in order to make students develop their writing abilities by providing them the structure of an essay and creating a rubric that can help them to figure out what content they should add in their essays.

reflection of my vacations

Today my reflection is going to be a little bit different because I'm going to talk about what I did during my vacations....

In general I just spent my time watching movies, soccer and anime, I really enjoy having time to watch soccer because sometimes when I'm at school I have a lot of homework and I don't have enough time to watch the games.

The movie that I watched, was the mockingjay part 2 (yes I hadn't seen it when it was in the movies) , I loved it! this saga is one of my favorite, so the last movie had to be great and it was. I think watching this movie was also helful educationally because if I tell you the truth it was the first time that I dared to watch a movie in English without subtitles, it was good to feel that I'm improving.



And well... vacations were not only at home (most time at home, but not all) .
I went out to eat with my mom, we were really bored so we decided to go out, it was kind of weird because we never go out together and just the two of us , but it was a really nice time, we went to McDonals and ate Chicken McTrio, french fries, coke and ice cream, I loved eating junk food. I didn't take pictures because my phone had a really bad quality of images but wel.. I downloaded one from the internet.

Reflection of the week

This week I did all my homework, I think all the homework was focused in discovering tools that can be used in our future as teachers, I had a good experience thinking about how to use different tools to facilitate learning to my students. I enjoy finding out new things because it makes me get into the teacher's role. I know teaching is not only sharing knowledge but looking for the best ways to make our students learn meaningfully, that's why I consider that looking for new tools is essential for the teaching-learning process.

These are the tools I chose for making my chart:

I created a chart about bloom's digital taxonomy where I included the levels of thinking, the lower and the higher. 
This taxonomy is important because it helps you to set up your objectives in verbs that can express also digital activities and not only ordinary everyday classroom activities.

Well, this time I want to share with you the tool that I used in order to bookmark some pages that I consider can be helpful for me in my future as a teacher.

First of all, I used the tool Diigo, I have been using it for a few days and I like it, I can bookmark my favorite pages, highligh text , make screenshots from there and all of it is saved in "my library". If you want to try Diigo, go and chek this link.

I chose those pages because it seems to me that they can help mainly as listening activities, because they contain games where the characters are constantly speaking in English so, children can get used to listening native speakers, this means, they will be receiving input and at the same time they will have fun .

Reflection of the week

This week we are on vacations, so I have just done my participation about the collaborative tool I have used and I posted it on Nicenet, I chose to write about Kahoot.

Collaborative tools are so great when you want to engage students in an interactive activity through the net.

In my experience I have used an awesome tool called "kahoot" I'm in love with this tool, I used it for the first time in my ESL classes in United States.
I think Kahoot is amazing for both teachers and students. As teacher, it allows you to create quizes, discussions and surveys, it is incredible because you can create your own questions for your students, the questions that best fit with the adquired and desired knowledge through the course, I think creating your own quizes on the net is the best way to assess your students' learning because you only include the contents that you have seen during classess and this tools facilitates the work since you don't have to do a lot of effort, it is really easy to use it.
For students, this tool is totally engaging!, it is a really fun way to learn, I enjoyed so much when my teacher gave us the opportunity to play kahoot in the classroom. In order to do that, my classmates and I had to connect to kahoot by using our smartphonesand then everybody can see the quizzes on the screen and you have to choose your answer. After everybody chose their answers they gain points for every right answer and also the fastest person gain more points (if the answer is correct).
I'm pretty sure that this collaborative tool is helpful for teaching and learning English, I don't know any person who doesn't like to play kahoot!

Reflection of the week

This week I did some interesting activities which were kind of interesting for me because I had to apply my creativity and new tools that I had never used before, for instance, I had to edit one video of an interview about creativiy. Therefore, I was in a hurry because I didn't know how to edit videos but I downloaded sony vegas and I think it was not so easy for being my first time but it was a nice experience. In my opinion, doing that video can be really helpful for me in my future as teacher since now I know how to present visual resources and edit videos and I can keep improving my technological abilities and devoloping my creativity.

I also did a graphic organizer in word which was really enjoyable for me because I could explain what creativity was but in my own words which is easier. It was also my first time at creating a graphic organizer by inserting a SmartArt, I found it nice and it can become a visual resource as well.

And the last thing I did, was making a table of activities that can be applied for the different intelligences. This was quite good for me because it made me think that there are many several activities to do in class and they should cover all sorts of intelligences not just teaching in one way, we should offer a variety during classes.

This is my table of activities per intelligence, I consider this is quiet useful so that we can be aware of the different way of learning of students and the activities that we can apply as teachers.

This is my graphic organizer, I think this is a good visual resource to make students learn easily some topics that we are reviewing in class, with this sort of creative works we facilitate the teaching-learning process.

Reflection of this week!

This week I had participation in the class forum Nicenet where I could post my opinions of how we can foster students' creativity. I had a good time posting since I think creativity is one of the most important parts if we want our learners to have a meaningful learning.
In my post in Nicenet I shared my opinions but I based some of them on the reading section that the teacher shared with us this week.
I love creative works and I totally support the idea of creating this kind of environments in English teaching since most of the people in our country thinks that leaning English is boring and they take it as an optional subject that is not important at all.
If we start to show a fun environment in English classrooms, people would be more engaged in learning this language and other different languages.
And as a conclusion I want to quote one phrase of this reading

"Your classroom is full of potential Einsteins, Pasteurs, Mozzarts and Picassos" .

We just have to motivate them to become more creative and to express all the potential that they have maybe hidden for a while.

Reflection of this week

This week was really active for me, I learned a lot about terms used on the internet and the awareness  we should have while using the net. After reading the documents the teacher provided us I could create a document for new internet users.

But that was not all, I also had participation on the classroom forum Nicenet , where I shared my experience about being missinterpreted and also my reflection about virtual worlds and
the review I did about Secondlife which I found it interesting as 
a teaching-learning resource.




And finally I wrote an entry in this blog about educational websites, I chose duolingo and google translator, because they are more related to the field I am preparing at. My partner also wrote a review and we commented each other in our blogs.

Nowadays, with the increasingly growth of technology, we can be witnesses of the numerous benefits in education that technology provides. One of them is the used of educational web pages.

In this case, I am going to focus my reflection on the webpages that can help students whose career is related to languages like us in UALE.

I think that long time ago studying languages had to be strictily in a classroom, which sometimes is kind of difficult because of lack of time, or maybe just because not all people is interested in learning languages. Therefore there was not space for languages at school, but now everything has changed because we can now use webpages to learn English or whatever language you want to learn, one of the most used one is:

Duolingo which is a webpage that offers 6 different languages, including, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Catalan. This webpage that can also be downloaded as an app, is one of my favourite because it allows you to practise the language you choose easily, you learn vocabulary, grammar and it is a fun process since you can also record your voice to check pronunciation. 
The best thing at using this app is that you don't have to pay so It won't affect your economy, and as you can have it in your laptop, desktop, mobile phone or any device, it will be always at the tip of your fingers. 

Another useful tool that we can use on the net is the google translator, I know that translator is not the most accurate in the world while translating, but it helps a lot when you need to translate isolated words, and it is the most famous translator since it contains a lot of languages, I don't even know the name of some of them, so it means that it is a varied tool, not just English-Spanish, Spanish-English.




In conclusion, I can say that webpages give us the resources that we need in order to gain more knowledge in the field we want to be experts, we can easily access to educational pages thanks to internet and there are less barriers between people interested in learning and the desired knowledge.

I downloaded this tool and during my first experience using it, I think it is really useful in different aspects of my life, specially at school. In this tool I can do my essays if I use the section for creating texts documents, it is really easy to use, I can also use the drawing section to create mind maps, diagrams and also just for creating images using my imagination. The last activity mentioned can also be useful in my personal life with my friends or family if I want to show them something to demonstrate they are important for me I can maybe design a card with a nice message. I think open office is a complete tool that I can use easily and for different purposes.
